FILM MAKING / STAGE DIRECTION

An other way to look at the stage

Directing is a practice of experience and research, aimed at bringing a text or music to light by honoring the creator while remaining true to one's own vision. It requires the ability to make decisions and communicate them to those involved, as well as the ability to unite people around a common project. For me, directing is a sensory experience that aims to unite the pleasure of the eyes and the ears.

My 20 years of experience as an opera singer have led me to work with numerous directors and take part in many productions. Their ability to visualize a work and make that vision concrete has always fascinated me, and I have always refrained from criticizing those who must take responsibility for the mistakes of others. I have become aware of the difficulty of this profession, but also of its great strength.

These insights inspired me to create my own productions, with the help of my colleagues from the ensemble La Jolie Rousse, on *Des Knaben Wunderhorn* by Gustav Mahler, and then on the life of Francis Poulenc. The latter production was created in October 2021 at the Salle du Grain de Sel in Séné.

At the same time, my love for cinema and great directors led me to pick up a camera and start editing my own films. The first videos I made date back to early 2020, with the aim of finding a medium that would allow for a wider distribution of my work as a singer in the melody and Lied repertoire. I have also made music videos for other people, such as Beata Polonkai.

In 2023, I began the project *Triptych*, the creation of a short film based on three songs by the American composer Ned Rorem (1923-2022). This experience brought together around fifteen people for this project and received support from about forty people to help me complete it. You can see some of these creations in the following links.

If you have interest to a common work, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
